We offer activities like White water rafting through the whitewaters of Weber River located close by to the resort or for some more treasure hunting land lovers there are also geo cache hunts through the wild and water as you curiously try to guess what the next clue is! Sure, Christmas songs are on the radio, trees and tinsel are in stores, and Christmas lights have been up since before the snow came.

But to some, the Christmas season doesn't truly start until the lights go on at Ogden's Christmas Village, a collection of 59 sometimes-whimsical, sometimes-historical cottages.

The smaller-than-human-scale cottages have been installed in Ogden's Municipal Gardens, creating a miniature village where elves, snowmen and Santa are in a perpetual state of getting ready for Dec. 25.

Since 1962, people have made Christmas Village a tradition, and new families join the tradition every year — not only for the cottages, but also for children to get a chance to meet Santa in the one human-sized cottage near the gardens' entrance on 25th Street.

In the Mountains

The Ogden Valley is convenient to three major ski resorts. Snowbasin hosted the Alpine skiing events during the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics. Skiers can still test their skills on the hills by trying the NASTAR racing system available at Snowbasin. Powder Mountain offers seven different lifts which can take skiers as high as 8,900 feet. Those who want to experience acres of pristine powder can book a tour that takes them into out-of-the-way areas via helicopters and snow-cats. Wolf Mountain has a variety of programs for young and beginning skiers, and is lit up until 9 p.m. every night. Those who choose the night-ski option will find the pass rates to be very reasonable.

After the snow melts, the mountains continue to be a prime activity spot. Hikers can try to climb either Ben Lomond Peak or Mt. Ogden Peak – both above 9,500 feet. The valley contains a series of mountain biking trails, as do the ski resorts.

Pine View Reservoir and Other Adventures

All of the snow from the mountains melts into the Ogden Valley, and the five-square miles of Pine View Reservoir. All of the usual water activities, from boating, to jet-skiing, to water-skiing are available on this beautiful body of water, and can be arranged through, which is part of the local resort and contracts with local experts in a variety of areas.

Wolf Creek Adventures can also arrange for vacationers to experience kayaking, river rafting, horseback riding, geo-caching, hot-air balloon rides and fly-fishing. There is also a golf course available at Wolf Creek Resort.

Accommodations and Entertainment

Couples can get hotel rooms or small condos. While in the Ogden Valley, check out the Shooting Star Tavern in Huntsville, which has been serving up cold ones in Utah since 1879. Another interesting spot to visit is the Huntsville Monastery. This Trappist Monastery, founded in 1947, has a gift shop that sells 14 different flavors of creamed honey made by the monks. For meals, check out Harley and Buck’s Grill in Eden or enjoy the views of the valley at the Rusty Cactus.
